HERSANA CIC is a not-for-profit organisation working to end violence against women and girls in all its forms whilst providing holistic support to Black femmes who have experienced any form of gender-based violence by providing counselling, (group) therapy, advocacy, outreach, training and workshops, and practical support services.
Our remarkable team is made up of inspiring Black femmes. If strength could be personified, its soul would resemble each and every one of these women.
We hope the information on this page interests and excites you for an important role in our organisation. We're looking forward to welcoming you to the SANA.
Our mission is to create holistic, gender-specialist, culturally specific and trauma-informed safe spaces for Black femmes affected by or at risk of gender-based violence across England and Wales, as well as campaign to eradicate violence against women and girls in all its forms. We aim to centre Black femmes in every narrative and to provide these services in a safe and Black femme only environment.
We believe that safe spaces like our own can provide a sanctuary from the world of facades, a sacred space where we, Black femmes, can be ourselves, as we are. This kind of unmasking – speaking our truth, sharing our inner struggles, and revealing our raw edges – is sacred activity.
Safe spaces designed by us, for you and with you in mind and at the forefront.
We thank you for your support and ongoing fight for justice in today's world.

OUR IMPACT SO FAR...
We've been running since 2016 [The ASKFirst Project] and in that time we have provided counselling, training advocacy support, outreach support and practical support to over 4000 Black women and girls.
The exceptionally difficult challenges that pervaded 2020 further highlighted the importance of our work as demand continued to rise and the depth of support needed became more and more apparent with each passing day.
As part of our mandate to continually empower and create safe spaces for Black femmes, we have continued championing the causes of Black communities and centering Black femmes in every narrative.
