Sharon Legae [she/her]

Training & Engagement Lead

Sharon Legae holds a MSc in Emerging Economies and Inclusive Development from Kings College London. Her studies strongly focused on community development and poverty alleviation in Africa and South America. Sharon is highly interested in transnational Black feminism and would like to pursue a PhD in Gender studies in the near future to research social injustices Black femmes experience in the UK and Africa.

Sharon has been with HERSANA for one year and has put great effort into developing HERSANA’s Training and Engagement Department. During her time with HERSANA she has been developing and delivering training packages around various forms of Gender-Based Violence including topics such as FGM/C, Honour Based Violence and Abuse Linked to Faith and Beliefs. Sharon’s role also involves developing and maintaining partnerships with community and professional stakeholders to ensure Black femme survivors across all sectors are fully supported in a holistic and culturally-sensitive way. She also facilitates our monthly Women of Colour Safer Community Forum to ensure Crawley can become a safer place with more accessible services for our sisters.

Apart from her work, Sharon loves to travel and hopes to have travelled the entire African continent within the next five years. Originally from South Africa, Sharon also plans to move to South Africa in the future to continue her fight against the social injustices against Black femmes in the country.
