Work With Us
Our remarkable team is made up of inspiring Black femmes. If safe space could be personified, its soul would resemble each and every one of these women. Are you ready to join the SANA family?
Work at the SANA
We are always looking for creative, audacious, passionate and committed Black femmes with a wide range of skills to join our teams — from frontline work to operations, fundraising and development and HR.
Our vision is to have a workforce that is reflective of the communities we serve; therefore, we actively encourage and welcome applications from candidates of diverse cultures, perspectives and lived experiences.
We're a small but mighty team of passionate people who want to end violence against women and girls for good. It's a huge and often tiring task, so we put self-care and wellbeing at the centre of our work to ensure that we're in the best place possible to take on the challenge.

Hear from Sharon…
Training & Engagement Lead
“Working for HERSANA has been a true blessing. Not only have I felt supported in my professional development since I started with the organisation. I have also experienced a sense of peace going in to work each day knowing that I would not have to deal with micro-aggressions or "unconscious biases" from other members of staff within the organisation. I just truly love working for HERSANA as I finally feel understood and acknowledged as a Black woman in my workplace.“
We offer a wide range of benefits which can be viewed below
Pensions, with a 5% employer contribution.
Learning & Development
A key part of our People Strategy is to continue to develop and enhance the learning experience during your time at HERSANA, and we are proud to offer many learning opportunities. We'll contribute towards books, training courses and conferences that help you learn and grow in your role here.
We provide 25 days holiday per annum (pro rata), plus UK public holidays and we encourage you to use them all up! In addition to this, the HERSANA office closes for a two-week period over Christmas and New Year. This won't be deducted from your annual leave allowance.
To protect and preserve the wellbeing of our team, all staff and volunteers are provided with regular clinical supervision sessions with an appropriately trained and accredited therapist, who works outside of the line management structure.
Employee Assistance Programme
We provide our team with access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) delivered by WPA.
An EAP is a confidential employee benefit designed to help you deal with personal and professional problems that could be affecting your home life or work life, health, and general wellbeing.
We'll contribute towards the things that help you be the best you.
We also recognise that there are times when a day off is needed. This may be to support your mental health, because you’ve got your period or to care for a family member or pet. All staff are entitled to an additional 3 days to support these ‘Time Out’ moments.
In addition to this, all staff have access to a health cash plan which includes the following benefits:
- Cash towards dental and optical bills
- Support with GP services including vaccinations and prescription charges
- Remote services including an Employee Assistance Programme and access to a remote GP
- The inclusion of existing health conditions
- The inclusion of children under the age of 16
- Easy to manage through an app
We will always consider requests for flexible working on hiring. For most roles, the following types of flexibility are usually possible:
- flexible hours
- an element of working from home
- compressed hours
Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need. We can’t promise to give you exactly what you want, but we do promise not to judge you for asking.
